Why we built MusicGigs

There are brilliant musicians playing local venues, open mics and private events every night, and almost no simple way to find them or book them. We started MusicGigs to close that gap.

The film is six minutes on how it started, and who it's for.

Make booking live music as easy as streaming it.

Whether you want a jazz trio for a dinner, a rock band for the backyard, or just a good show on Friday, MusicGigs puts the whole local scene in one place, with real profiles, real video and a direct line to the artist.

For the players it's a free professional stage. Show what you do, list your dates, and get found by people who are actively looking to book somebody.

How it works

Three steps whichever side of the stage you're on.

Booking an act

  1. Find the right act

Browse by city, genre or budget, and watch them play before you get in touch.

  2. Ask for a booking

Tell them the date, the place and your budget. It's free to ask, and they reply with a quote.

  3. Book and pay in one place

Accept the quote and pay through MusicGigs. The date is held for you, and we hold the payment until the gig is done.

Find an act

Listing your act

  1. Make your profile

Add a video, your genres, your rates and the cities you'll play. It's free and takes about ten minutes.

  2. Answer requests

Clients send the date, place and budget. You reply with a quote, all inside MusicGigs.

  3. Get paid

The client pays upfront and 95% of the fee comes to you through Stripe. We keep 5% and nothing else.

What we stand for

Live music first

Nothing replaces a room with a band in it. Every feature starts from that and works outward.

Built with musicians

Players and the people who book them shape what we build next.

Local discovery

Great players are everywhere, not only in cities with a famous scene. We help you find the ones around the corner.

Fair and clear

Listing and being found are free, and every fee is shown before anyone pays.

Questions people ask

Something else on your mind? Ask us.

Is MusicGigs free?

Browsing, listing your act or venue, and asking for a booking are all free. When a booking is paid through MusicGigs, the client pays a service fee of about 8.3% (at least $7.02, card processing included) on top of the act's price, and 5% comes out of the act's payout. Both are shown before anyone pays.

How do I book a musician or band?

Find an act in the directory, open their profile and choose Request a booking. Tell them the date, the place and your budget, and they reply with a quote. Accept it and pay, and the date is yours.

How does payment work?

The client pays upfront: The full fee, when they book. No invoices, no chasing anyone for money. We hold it until the gig is done. It's kept safe until 2 days after the event, once the window for reporting a problem has closed. Then 95% goes to the act. Sent to their Stripe account, which pays it into their bank. We keep 5% and nothing else.

What if something goes wrong with a booking?

Report it from the booking page and we work through it with both sides. Anything that hasn't been paid out stays where it is until it's settled. Each act also sets a cancellation policy, which is shown with their quote before you pay.

How do I list my band or act?

Create a free account and set up your profile with a video, your genres, rates and the cities you'll play. It takes about ten minutes, and you can start answering booking requests straight away.

Can a venue list its open mic nights?

Yes. Add your venue and its open mics with the day, start time and sign-up time. They appear on your venue page and in the open mics directory, next to your upcoming shows.

Where is MusicGigs based?

Austin, Texas. Acts, venues and shows are listed across the United States.

Help keep it free for every musician

MusicGigs stays free to list with help from people who believe in live music. What comes in keeps the lights on and the platform growing. Anything at all makes a difference.
